Projects and Planning

A lot of the success of a project rests on our ability to define, organise and manage the project. A project plan helps determine and manage the various stages of a project. The plan includes considerations for risk management, resource management and communications, as well as addressing the size, cost and schedule of the various activities that make up the project.

Whether a complex software program or a few sheets of paper it is used by project managers to ensure that their plans are thorough and robust. The purpose of a project plan is to guide the execution of all phases of a project.

The project plan answers the who, what, where, why, how and when of the project—it’s more than a list with tasks and due dates but it details the objectives, the budget and how things will be carried out.
