What’s a Disciple Making Movement (DMM)?

A Disciple Making Movement is all about everyday people making disciples who then go and make more disciples. It’s not centered around church buildings, big events, or professionals. Instead, it happens in homes, communities, and everyday life.

At the heart of DMM is simply obeying Jesus, using simple tools anyone can learn, and letting local people take the lead. These movements often grow in places where the message of Jesus is new or where traditional church structures don’t work well.

Where Does This Idea Come From?

The whole idea comes from what Jesus said in Matthew 28:18–20—His call to “go and make disciples of all nations.” Jesus didn’t just teach in big crowds but He spent time with a few, taught them how to live, and then sent them out to do the same. DMM follows that same pattern: life-on-life, simple obedience, and sending people out.

Why It Matters

Disciple Making Movements are happening all over the world. In some of the hardest places to reach, people are coming to know Jesus and starting simple churches right in their communities. These movements grow fast because they’re led by locals, don’t rely on outside money, and are powered by prayer and the Holy Spirit.
